Report: Bedard to make Sox debut Thursday

Erik Bedard will make his Red Sox debut Thursday night against the Indians, according to Tom Caron of NESN.

Jon Lester, who was originally scheduled to make that start, has been pushed back to Friday against the Yankees.

Bedard was acquired from Seattle at the deadline on Sunday. He has made one start since returning from the disabled list with a sprained knee, pitching 1.1 innings to the Rays. He allowed three hits and four walks for five runs.

Prior to the injury, Bedard maintained a 3.00 ERA through 15 starts.

Sean McAdam offers some insight regarding the success in Bedard's past.
