Notes: Sox win one, lose one in exhibition play

It was a mixed bad for the Red Sox Friday, as they split their split-squad games.

At Hammond Stadium, the Twins' home field in Fort Myers, the Red Sox lost Minnesota, 3-2, evening the Mayors Cup series at two games each in the best-of-five series. Jacoby Ellsbury went 2-for-3 to raise his average to .364. David Ortiz went 2-for-3 with an RBI. Tim Wakefield pitched two scoreless innings, allowing one hit. Hideki Okajima pitched a scoreless inning, giving up a hit and walk with one strikeout.

The Red Sox won their other split-squad game, 9-3, against the Astros
in Kissimmee. The Sox scored three runs in the first inning. Kyle Weiland started and got the win improving his record to 1-1, despite going 1 13 innings, giving up three runs on four hits and walk with one strikeout. Dustin Pedroia went 2-for-3, including a triple, with a run scored and an RBI. Daniel Nava went 2-for-3 with a triple and an RBI. Mark Wagner went 2-for-2 with two runs scored and an RBI.

Scheduled pitchers for Saturdays game against the Marlins at City of Palms Park include John Lackey, Randy Williams, Bobby Jenks, and Matt Fox.

The Red Sox are scheduled to have their annual meeting with representatives of Major League Baseball security before Saturdays game.
