CLEVELANDRight-hander Bobby Jenks, who has been on the disabled list since May 2 with a right biceps strain, threw a side session of about 25 pitches Monday afternoon.

Everything felt great today, he said. Bicep is back to where it was before a few weeks ago, so right now everything is looking good.

Jenks expects to throw again on Wednesday and his hopeful he could rejoin the bullpen for the four-game series in Detroit that begins on Thursday.

As far as health-wise, were right on schedule to be back this week, hopefully in Detroit, he said.

Once Im right Ill be able to get back out there, its just a matter of getting my feet back under me. Another bullpen or two will take care of that right away.

Jenks, who has posted a record of 1-2 with a 9.35 ERA, is anxious to get back in a game.

Very excited, he said. Its been way too long. I need to get back out there. Im going crazy in the dugout.

He is optimistic that the mechanical issues he identified before the injury have also been taken care of.

Right now I feel very good about my mechanics because I narrowed it down, he said. I did fix it so its just a matter of going back out there and applying it now.

Right-hander John Lackey, on the DL since May 12 with a right elbow strain, is expected to throw a side session Tuesday.

I think it probably depends on how he feels and how aggressive he gets, manager Terry Francona said. I think rather than go into it with a number or intensity in mind, kind of see how he does. I think hed like to push as far as comfort allows and it seems like hes doing really well.
