Hottovy clears waivers; outrighted to Pawtucket

Tommy Hottovy has cleared waivers and been outrighted to Pawtucket.

The 30-year-old lefty was placed on waivers Saturday to make room on the 40-man roster for Randy Williams, who was called up to the Red Sox when Bobby Jenks went on the DL.

In 4 innings pitched for Boston this season, Hottovy allowed four hits and three walks for three earned runs. In 16 innings for Pawtucket, however, he has maintained an ERA of 1.69 with just eight hits and three walks.
