FOXBORO - Marcus Cannon, a fifth-round selection last April by the Patriots, has been taken off the Physically Unable to Perform (PUP) list and began practicing on Tuesday. Cannon, the 138th pick in the draft out of TCU, was projected as one of the top 50 players before being diagnosed with non-Hodgkins lymphoma in the days immediately before the draft took place. A 354-pounder with light feet who projects as a guard for the Patriots, Cannon was a tackle in college.
Cannon had a dozen chemo treatments which he finished in late June. It's a remarkable story. Dane Fletcher was the only Patriot absent from the media portion of practice on Tuesday. The Patriots signed defensive back Malcolm Williams to the practice squad and released defensive back Josh Victorian.
