Report: Patriots extend Josh Barrett's contact

The Patriots have reportedly extended the contact of safety Josh Barrett, according to a league source. The extenstion comes before Barrett became a restricted free agent under the rules of the current collective bargaining agreement, due to his three year tenure with the NFL.The news was reported by Mike Rodakand Mike Reiss of ESPN Boston. The deal is reported to be worth Barrett's base salary of 725,000 in 2011 and 775,000 in 2012 along with a 250,000 signing bonus. Barrett spent the entire 2010 season on the injured reserve while recovering from shoulder surgery which he underwent as a Bronco. Barrett wasclaimed of waivers from theBroncoson August 6 of this year.
