An eyewitness to the melee that led to two men being shot in Apopka, Florida on February 27 told the Boston Globe that Patriots' safety Brandon Meriweather was acting as a peacemaker when shots were fired. Quentin Taylor and Cedric Payne - both cousins of Meriweather - got in a fight at Payne's house after a dustup at a nightclub involving a woman. "When Quentin came full force at Cedric, Brandon jumped in the middle to try to break up the fight. Brandon had no influence on the fight and didn't have a gun on him," the Globe's Bob Hohler reported. The witness alleged that a man named Anton Massey pulled a gun and shot at Payne, instead hitting Taylor and Nico Stanley, the brother of the woman originally involved in the dustup with Payne at the Blue Jeans Lounge. It's a good read. And, as the previous paragraph shows, I diagnosed the scene accurately earlier. It was a crapstorm.
