Patriots to play despite Foxboro power outages

FOXBORO -- The Foxboro selectmen voted unanimously Wednesday to allow the Patriots to play their scheduled exhibition game against the New York Giants on Thursday night at Gillette Stadium, despite the fact that most of the town is still without power in the wake of Tropical Storm Irene.

The Gillette StadiumPatriot Place complex is one of the few places in Foxboro to have power, and the selectmen -- worried about traffic and parking problems with most of the rest of the town in the dark -- held a special meeting to determine whether or not to allow the Pats to play on Thursday.
