Patriots' Hernandez undergoes hip surgery

Patriots tight end Aaron Hernandez told campers at his brother D.J.'s football camp in Southington, Conn., that he recently underwent hip surgery, according to a story in the Hartford Courant.

Aaron Hernandez showed up at the camp on crutches. D.J. Hernandez, a former quarterback and wide receiver at the University of Connecticut, is now the football coach at Southington High School.

Aaron Hernandez sat out the last two games of the regular season because of the hip injury. He had 45 catches for 563 yards and 6 touchdowns prior to that. He returned for the playoff game against the Jets, catching one pass for four yards.
