Dalen is a sports broadcaster who has worked for various networks including NBC Sports Network, MSG Varsity and Columbia University during his seven year career. In 2012, NBC Sports Network became the home for Ivy League hoops. Dalen, along with play by play partner Randy Moss, is the voice of the Ivy League. He also has covered the New York, New Jersey and Connecticut high school sports scene for MSG Varsity from 2010 to 2013 and hosted a nightly news and highlights program called The Sports Desk. In addition to his role as a nightly host, Dalen was a basketball analyst in-studio and in-game for MSG Varsity. He began his broadcasting career as the color commentator for the Columbia University Men’s basketball radio broadcasts alongside play-by-play partner Jerry Recco, a role he took on after completing his playing career and graduating from Columbia University in 2006.
At Columbia, Dalen was captain of the men’s basketball team his senior year. He ranks among the top in Columbia history in games played, career three point field goals made, three point percentage for a single season and three point field goals made in a season.
Prior to coming to Columbia, Dalen went to East Lake High School (Tarpon Springs, FL). Born in Pittsburgh, PA, he lived there until the age of 14 and still loves his Steelers! He comes from a family of athletes. His father played basketball at Duquesne University before being drafted by the New York Knicks and his brothers were both collegiate athletes… one playing basketball (Washington College in Maryland) and the other playing football (Air Force Academy). Dalen knew early on that he was destined to play basketball…but has always maintained his passion for all sports.
