The Red Sox continue to be linked to some remaining free agent starters, including Roy Oswalt and Edwin Jackson, but for now, aren't close to doing anything to further upgrade their starting rotation.
"We're going to keep our eyes open, and continue to talk to teams or free agents as things present themselves," said GM Ben Cherington at the Hot Stove, Cool Music event at Fenway. "I don't know if we'll do anything in the short-term.
"If there are ways to add to the rotation now, we'll do it now. If it's spring training, we'll consider it then, or at the start of the season, we'll consider it then. We don't feel a need to do anything now. I think we have enough to get the team ready for the season.
"If something comes to us either now or in spring training, we'll certainly consider it."
