It wasn’t long ago that questions began to be asked about Chris Tierney’s ability to hold onto his spot in the starting XI. Not only had the Revolution left back suffered a pair of early-season knocks, but fellow wingback Kevin Alston was in sensational form.
But only two weeks after replacing an injured Alston during the first half of a 2-1 win over Toronto, the veteran defender has become a crucial component of the team’s recent goal bonanza. And it was especially evident during Saturday’s 5-3 win over the Union.
At a venue where the Revolution hadn't scored in nearly two years, Tierney not only set up the opening goal in the 14th minute, but his 57th minute free kick strike left the PPL Park partisans stunned in disbelief.
