The Revolution roster is now one man thinner.
Kalifa Cisse and the New England team agreed to cancel the midfielder's contract on Tuesday, ending a less than year-long stint with the squad.
The 29-year-old had signed with the Revolution on November 19, 2012 after eight years of play in Europe. He had six starts this past season and added two more appearances for the Revs in the U.S. Open Cup earlier in 2013.
Revs GM Michael Burns had nothing but positive things to say about Cisse in his departure from the squad.
“We want to thank Kalifa for his time with us and wish him well on his future opportunities,” Burns said. “He has been a true professional and a great mentor for our young squad, so we wish him the best as he moves on.”
