FOXBORO -- The New England Revolution scored two second-half goals to earn a hard-fought come-from-behind 2-1 win over D.C. United on Saturday night at Gillette Stadium.
D.C. took a 1-0 lead in the 11th minute, after Revs midfielder Scott Caldwell put the ball into his own net as he made a sliding attempt to break up a Luis Silva pass across the box from the left wing.
The Revs scored two goals in the second half. The first came on Diego Fagundez' finish from the right side in the 56th minute, less than a minute after Lee Nguyen had a penalty kick saved.
New England took a 2-1 lead on Nguyen's second penalty kick of the game, in the 81st minute. It ended up being the game-winner, and came just after Revs goalkeeper Matt Reis saved the day on a ball that got over his head and was destined for the net. But Reis hustled back and dove to just barely keep the ball from crossing the goal line.
