RICHMOND, Va. - A trio of first half goals saw the New England Revolution march into halftime with the lead securely theirs, but they were forced to withstand a barrage of shots to earn a 3-2 U.S. Open Cup win over the Richmond Kickers on Wednesday at City Stadium.

Stephen McCarthy opened the scoring with a ninth-minute strike, while goals from Steve Neumann and Patrick Mullins in the 35th and 39th minutes, respectively, saw the offense take no prisoners in the first half.

A George Davis goal in the 24th minute kept the Kickers alive, while Matt Delicate’s 74th strike kept it interesting down to the wire.
