Revs shutout vs Toronto, 1-0

FOXBORO -- The New England Revolution couldn't keep their win streak alive on Sunday night, as they fell 1-0 to Toronto FC, thanks to an early goal and plenty of missed opportunities for the Revs.

Toronto midfielder Matias Laba created a turnover at midfield in the second minute of play, took it all the way down the right side with plenty of open space, got Revolution defender Stephen McCarthy to bite on a fake shot, and put home his second opportunity out front.

It was all Toronto would need on the night, as New England couldn't finish on several golden opportunities, most of them coming from Diego Fagundez.

Fagundez had one final chance to get a point for his team in the final seconds of the match, but his one-timer on a Lee Nguyen free kick hit the left corner of the crossbar.

With Houston's 3-1 win over the Columbus Crew on Saturday night, the Dynamo take sole possession of the Eastern Conference's fifth and final playoff spot. A Revs win on Sunday night would have kept the two teams tied in that position.
