It was no secret that the Revolution were looking for offense four months ago at the MLS SuperDraft. And so far, that approach has paid dividends, as the squad sits atop the conference standings with Sporting Kansas City due in part to the contributions of Patrick Mullins and Steve Neumann.
Though Neumann (fourth overall pick) and Mullins (11th overall pick) may have been silent at the start of the season, both have filled important roles in recent weeks, during which the Revolution have gone unbeaten (3-0-1).
Great things were expected of Mullins, who won back-to-back Hermann Trophies in 2012 and 2013 at Maryland. A forgettable debut in Houston tempered those expectations, but a second crack at the lineup provided a glimpse of his potential.
