Revolution goalkeeper Matt Reis underwent surgery on his left quadriceps tendon on Monday and is expected to need five-to-seven months to rehabilitate the injury, the team announced.
The 38-year-old needed surgery after he suffered an injury in the final minutes of the Revs’ last match of the season on Wednesday at Sporting Kansas City.
Revs team physician Dr. Scott Martin performed the surgery at Brigham and Women’s/Mass General Health Care Center.
Reis appeared in 12 regular-season matches this season, and went 7-0-4 on the year. He was the first goalkeeper in MLS history to go undefeated after making 10 or more appearances in a season. He also posted his career-best goals against average (0.72) and had five shutouts.
