Reis earns 100th win

FOXBORO -- Matt Reis had already made his 1,000th career save earlier this season. And it was only a matter of time until he reached career win No. 100.
That happened on Wednesday night at Gillette Stadium, as Reis made six saves in New England's 2-1 win over the Colorado Rapids at Gillette Stadium.
Afterwards, Reis downplayed the achievement, which made him just the sixth goalkeeper in MLS history to reach 100 wins, calling it a "relief."
"It's something that, the last three games, it's been there in the back of my mind," said Reis. "But it's finally a hurdle to get over, and to move on and focus on the rest of the season."
His teammates and coaches made it out to be a bigger deal than he did, and praised their goalkeeper in the process.
"That's Matty, man," said Revolution captain Shalrie Joseph. "You've got to love Matty. He's just easy going. He's the greatest teammate we've probably ever had in this locker room. So, for him, it's just another day, just another game. He's going to look forward to probably play until he's 50, because he knows how good he is. And hopefully he keeps us going and keeps encouraging the young guys in the back end. That's what Matt Reis is about."
"He's one of those special players in this league, and longevity's one of those things," said Revolution coach Jay Heaps. "I always, one of my big things is, a stat they don't really show, but availability. Guys that can just be in the lineup, available for a coach's selection. And Matt Reis has shown over his career that he's always ready, always available.
"He's had some injuries the last couple of years. He's fought back from that. And tonight, you feel confident with him back there, especially in the second half. We have a young back line, and Matt shows that he's confident, and can play."
