FOXBOROUGH, Mass. – Jermaine Jones collected his first MLS assist while Lee Nguyen scored twice to send the New England Revolution to a 3-1 win over Sporting Kansas City on Wednesday at Gillette Stadium.
Soony Saad opened the scoring in the ninth minute, while Teal Bunbury leveled it after collecting a majestic 40-yard pass from Jones in the 45th minute. But the match didn’t stay even for long as Nguyen blasted the go-ahead in the 48th minute while adding an insurance strike in the 90+3 minute.
Jones, who earned his first start since the United States’ Round of 16 clash against Belgium on July 1, went 45 minutes before he was spelled by Steve Neumann.
