FOXOBOROUGH, Mass. – For the eighth game in a row, the Revolution conceded the first goal. And for the eighth straight game, it helped keep them out of the win column after they dropped a 2-1 loss to the Columbus Crew on Saturday at Gillette Stadium.
Federico Higuain fired the opening salvo in the 44th minute on a brilliant free kick from 25 yards to send the Revolution to yet another halftime deficit. The Revolution countered in the 50th minute on an A.J. Soares flick that found the back of the net. But Ethan Finlay had the final say when he tallied in the 84th minute.
The loss extended the Revolution’s losing streak to eight, with their last win coming in a May 17 victory over D.C. The Crew earned their second consecutive win result a week after they snapped a seven-game winless streak with a 2-1 win over the Impact.
