With Matt Reis now retired, there is competition at goalkeeper for the New England Revolution, who open their MLS season Saturday in Houston.

Off-season acquistion Brad Knighton has returned to New England. Bobby Shuttleworth, who backed up Reis last season, is also back.

"The start of my career here was fantastic and to be able to come back here and help this team get to the playoffs was something I was looking to do," said Knighton, who was a roomate of Revs coach Jay Heaps when Heaps was a player in Knighton's first stint in New England.

Shuttleworth was a teammate of Knighton with the Revs, too.

"It's definitely a change with Matt [Reis] leaving," said Shuttleworth. "But I've worked with Brad before."

Knighton said the two goalies are comfortable splitting time.

"We're going to get the best out of each other and we're each going to get a shot," Knighton said. "I think we have two number ones here."
