Kirk Minihane and Mike Giardi give their input on who is the most responsible for the Pats offseason moves.

Who's behind the Patriots' big free agency push this offseason? The coach or the quarterback?

On Arbella Early Edition, Mike Giardi and WEEI's Kirk Minihane split their vote.

"It starts and ends with Belichick," Minihane said. "At end of day, give me another voice in the organization that has that much weight."

Minihane said the acquisition of five-time All-Pro cornerback Darrelle Revis gives the Patriots "a once-in-a-generation-player. [Belichick's] done it before with [Corey] Dillon and [Randy Moss]", but they're not at Revis' level.

Giardi said Tom Brady is the motivation behind the moves.

"I'm going to say it's this guy, Tom Brady," Giardi said. "The window is closing. The clock is ticking. Tom Brady only has two to three years left at his highest level...Here's a chance, especially with Broncos loading up, to be in the mix again."

Minihane asked, "If they had the eight-best quarterback, does Belichick do it?"

Responded Giardi: "Yes. Of course, but you don't want to give Revis a one-year deal. In this case they felt like they had to do it because Tom Brady needs to get another ring."
