Jeff Howe of the Boston Herald joined Gary Tanguay and Andy Gresh to talk about the Patriots prospects for the second half of the season as they come off the bye week and head for Carolina on Monday night.
Who's does Howe have more confidence in the rest of the way? The offense or the defense?
"I think it's the offense," he said. "Rob Gronkowski was so good against the Steelers. They're starting to use him in a three=point stance which means they're not as worried about his arm. It just feeds out from him. It makes the rest of the offense so much better."
Whose return will help the Patriots more? Aqib Talib in the secondary? Or running back Shane Vereen?
Howe said if Talib plays against Carolina, he could have the most immediate impact in taking away Cam Newton's favorite targets, wide receiver Steve Smith and tight end Greg Olson.
Still, he said, and Gresh and Tanguay agreed, it's important not to overlook the dimension Vereen brings to the offense, as his 159 yards from scrimmage in the season-opener against Buffalo attest, before Vereen left with a broken wrist.
