The new Quick Slants game, 'What?! Mmm hmm' is taking Patriots fans by storm.
Kay Adams asked Tom E. Curran and Mike Giardi a series of questions and then decided who made the better argument.
Devin McCourty should get a new contract before the start of the season
Tom E. Curran agreed that the safety deserves a new deal.
"He's a guy the Patriots have to build around," said Curran. "He's the lead communicator back there, he's a free safety who has range, which is something they've missed. Get him done now, lock him up and have that stability for when Darrelle Revis becomes a cornerback on the free agent market."
Giardi feels like McCourty has something to prove.
"I just look at Jairiys Byrd and the kind of dough he got from the Saints," said Giardi. "McCourty's probably saying to himself, 'I can get that." Here's the thing you've got to start making more plays. That means turning the ball over. It's not something that he's done very well at free safety."
Ryan Mallett will be Brady's back-up at the end of camp
"It's going to take a while for him to become comfortable in the offense and to be that second guy," said Giardi. "Mallett has been here, knows the offense, may not be perfectly suited for it but I think it makes sense."
Curran agreed with Giardi.
"He's not ready yet," said Curran. "and Ryan Mallett, by default, will be the backup."
The Patriots offense will be in the top 16 this season
"Is that supposed to say top six? Because they're going to go through the roof," explained Curran. "It depends on what your measure is. This is a team that was top three in points scored last year even with a bunch of clowns running out there walking around with 'hi, my name is' tags on their jerseys."
Giardi wasn't so sure Curran should consider Dobson, Thompkins and Danny Amendola should be considered clowns.
This year's receiving corps will be better than 2013
"I'm just not sure yet," said Giardi. "There's just still so many questions. Dobson's a guy they counted on to be the outside receiver, he's obviously working on the side coming off the foot injury that scares the heck out of me."
Tom E. Curran expects big things from the receivers.
"Of course they're going to be better than in 2013," said Curran. "The presence of Gronkowski, is going to be a trickle-down effect on everybody else. We know the uncertainty in 2013.
