Here's your wakeup call -- a combination of newsworthy and/or interesting tidbits -- for Tuesday, December 10:

  • Don't be shocked when you turn on the American Country Awards show tonight and see Danica Patrick on the dais. She's one of the co-hosts. (AP)

  • Urban Meyer and his Buckeyes had nothing to sing about after Ohio State's devastating loss to Michigan State in the Big Tem championship game. (Yahoo! Sports)

  • All together now: Jadeveon Clowney was racing to the NFL! Chortle, guffaw. (NBC's Pro Football Talk)

  • That'll teach Oregon's Pharoaoh Brown not to throw snowballs. (NBC's College Football Talk)

  • So let's try to determine this career arc: Dirk Koetter was Boise State's head coach from 1998-2000. He went 26-10 in three seasons and got hired as Arizona State. Eventually he moved into the NFL, and has been on the Falcons' staff for the last two years. Now he's interviewing for a head job again . . . at Boise State. Hmm. (AP)

  • The Boise State job is open because Chris Petersen, who went 92-12 with the Broncos in eight years there, said he needed to take "that next step and next challenge" -- not to mention $18 million guaranteed over the next five years -- and accepted the head spot at Washington. (AP)

  • Dave Clawson's reward for leading Bowling Green to an upset of Northern Illinois in the MAC championship game: The head coaching gig at Wake Forest. Guess the Falcons are on their own for the Little Caesars Pizza Bowl. (AP)

  • We have our Heisman finalists. (Yahoo! Sports)

  • They didn't have James Neal, who's been suspended, and they didn't have Brooks Orpik, who's been placed on IR after his pummeling at the hands of Shawn Thornton. But the Penguins won anyway. Helped that they were playing Columbus, of course. (AP)

  • The Penguins say Orpik doesn't remember the hits from Thornton, or anything at all after the National Anthem Saturday night. (NBC's Pro Hockeu Talk)

  • Martin Brodeur, retire? Don't be silly, says Jaromir Jagr . . . no spring chicken himself. (Pro Hockey Talk)

  • The NHL salary cap is going up -- substantially -- next year. (AP)
