FOXBORO -- Darrelle Revis can't deny it's strange to play nice with the Patriots.
"It's kind of weird watching 1-on-1's and seeing Tom [Brady] throw at our DB's," he laughed after Tuesday's joint practice between Tampa Bay and New England.
Revis is not just adjusting to life as a Buccaneer after six seasons with the Jets, but also life on the sideline; the premier cornerback is still recovering from the ACL surgery he underwent last September.
"It's just something I'm taking in stride," he shrugged. "I wish I could be out here to practice. That would give me some tips if I could be out here in 1-on-1's and go against Tom because that would be great competition at the end of the day."
So now Brady's a great competitor and not, as Antonio Cromartie once stated and Revis agreed, an a$%^#@*. And it didn't stop there. The former Jet was asked if the 36-year-old Brady still looks like one of the best quarterbacks in the NFL.
"Oh yeah, yeah, yeah. It's between him and Peyton Manning, but it's a good race between both of them. They've both great. I've played against both of them. They're awesome quarterbacks; they're tough to play against and tough to game plan against."
Did Darrelle Revis really praise Brady with a smile? It seems hard to believe changing a player's jersey will completely change his attitude. But this cornerback claims it's so.
When prodded as to whether spending a few days in New England gets his blood boiling, Revis broke out in another grin.
"No! Actually, it doesn't," he said. "The New York Jets-Patriots -- that's a crazy rivalry, it really is. It's almost like a hatred. But now I'm a Buccaneer. This is something new for me, being in training camp with a different team, so I'm just taking it in stride."
