Early in free agency the Patriots have are making moves to improve their most criticized position - defensive back.

On Sports Tonight Lou Merloni, Christopher Price and Steve Buckley discuss what the additions of Darrelle Revis and Brandon Browner mean to the Patriots defense.

"This is an extreme makeover in the secondary." said Price, "Browner is not the elite cornerback he was back in 2011 when he had six picks, but he is still really a quality defensive back who does have some defensive versatility."

Buckley believes this is the first time in years that the Patriots secondary is not a reason for concern.

"How many seasons, recently, have we worried about the defensive backfield the first five, six, seven games of the season?" asked Steve Buckley, "For the first time in a long time, that's not a crisis early in the season, moving forward."

Price also pointed out that this season has been a departure from how the Patriots have built their defense in the last decade.

"This is rare, they haven't gone this heavy in the defensive backfield in over ten years." said Price, "The last time they had a defensive backfield like this was with Ty Law and Lawyer Milloy over a decade ago in terms of overall finances allotted to the secondary."
