Perillo: First-rounders show Pats know talent

Bill Belichick and the Patriots organization have built a reputation on maximizing the abilities of players and drafting wisely.

But if there's one knock on Belichick the GM it's his inability to draft wide receivers and cornerbacks in the early rounds.

Remember Chad Jackson? Brandon Tate? What about Ras-I Dowling?

Do you trust the organization to make the right decision with this year's picks?

"In the first round Bill Belichick is virtually flawless," said Paul Perillo of Patriots Football Weekly. "When you give him a first-round pick he has almost always found a really good player. Really the only exception would be Lawrence Maroney who sort of crapped out. Brandon Meriweather was kind of a wild card. You look at the other picks, really solid guys.

"If Bill eyes a wide receiver or a cornerback in the first round, I'm going to trust that they think that's a very good player and it'll work out. I do have faith in their ability to judge the talent."
