FOXBORO -- When the Patriots played against the Eagles in joint practices last week, they didn't have to worry about showing too much of their offensive or defensive systems; the two teams won't meet this season unless it's in the Super Bowl.

When the Tampa Bay Buccaneers come to town for joint practices starting on Tuesday, the dynamic will be different. The Bucs will be back in New England for a regular-season game in Week 3.

Given an impending game between the two teams -- one that actually counts -- it will be interesting to see how much they reveal in practice this week.

Patriots coach Bill Belichick said that the Patriots will approach this week somewhat differently than they did last week, but his main concern remains having his team ready to play the Bills in Week 1, and to have them prepared for a 16-game regular season.

"I don’t think we can worry too much about that," Belichick said when asked if this week's workouts will be different. "I think we have to concentrate on moving ahead as a football team. We need to be a better football team at the end of the week. That’s what our goal is. We’ll worry about the regular season game when that comes. We have to prepare our team for the opener, for the 16-game regular season schedule. That’s what we’ll do. We had a great working week with [the Bucs] last year. I hope for the same thing this year."

The respect that Belichick has for Tampa Bay coach Greg Schiano has been well-publicized. The two teams met for joint practices last season. Belichick's son Stephen played for Schiano when Schiano was coach at Rutgers, and Belichick now employs nine Rutgers players -- all with ties to Schiano -- on his roster.

"Coach Schiano and I have talked about it," Belichick said when asked how this week will be different from last. "I think there are a couple things we feel like we’d just as soon not work on, but there are plenty of other things that we need to work on so we’ll do that."
