Alfonzo Dennard keeps stalling.
The Patriots’ cornerback – who admitted to a probation violation in September out in Lincoln, Neb. – was to appear in court there Thursday for sentencing.
Dennard was initially found guilty of assaulting a police officer in Lincoln in April 2012. He was tried in April 2013 and received a 30-day sentence, which was to begin being served on March 30, 2014. He was also given 100 hours community service.
If, in that year – and while on probation – Dennard stayed out of trouble and abstained from alcohol, the sentence could have been dismissed.
But on July 11, Dennard violated probation when he was stopped on suspicion of DUI after his vehicle failed to stay in marked lanes.
Dennard admitted to drinking but not to being drunk. In addition to the request for a continuance on the probation hearing, Dennard has to enter a plea Friday for the DUI case.
