Patriots WR Gibson gets dinged late vs. Saints

NEW ORLEANS – Already thin at wide receiver, the Patriots may have lost another late Saturday night.

Brandon Gibson left the field after a fourth-quarter and had his leg examined after catching eight passes for 68 yards. Gibson had an X-ray done at the Superdome and was downcast in the locker room after the game, though he didn’t appear to be limping too badly.

Gibson indicated in the locker room he’d find out the results of the exam Sunday but didn’t seem overly optimistic.

The Patriots have been running without Julian Edelman, Brandon LaFell, Aaron Dobson and Brian Tyms. Gibson, a 29-year-old veteran, has been very useful because he’s got more experience than the other hopefuls left standing to catch passes from Tom Brady and Jimmy Garoppolo. The Patriots' next game is Friday in Charlotte against the Panthers.
