The Patriots sent Justin Green to cornerback-hungry Dallas on Tuesday and got back defensive tackle Ben Bass in return.
The news was first reported by Nick Eatman at DallasCowboys.com
The Patriots lost two of their young DTs last week – Seaver Siliga (hand) and Chris Jones (ankle). Between Seaver Siliga and the cadre of older defensive linemen – Vince WIlfork, Tommy Kelly and Will Smith – the team needs depth for these preseason games. Whether Bass will be in town for more than that, we will find out.
He is a 6-5, 294-pounder from Texas A&M who spent last year on IR. He’s been dealing with hamstring issues this offseason.
As for Green, the 5-10, 194-pounder found himself on the outside of a very deep cornerback rotation. He'll be better off in Dallas where the Cowboys have injuries and suspensions to deal with.
