The Patriots report the signings of seven players to future contracts: tight end Carson Bulter, quaterback Jonathan Crompton, defensive lineman Marlon Favorite, corner back Thad Turner, defensive back Ross Ventrone and wide receivers Buddy Farnham, Darnell Jenkins. All seven finished the 2010 season on the New Englands practice squad.
Butler originally signed with the Packers as a rookie free agent out of Michigan in 2009. He spent time practicing with the Lions, 49ers and Bengals before signing with the Patriots on August. 2, 2010. Butler was waived on September 4, but got a practice spot back on September 21.
Crompton was drafted by the Chargers in the fifth round out of Tennessee. Crompton was waived by the Chargers on September 7. The Patriots then signed the QB to their practice squad on November 3.
Farnham, a former receiver at Brown, was the only tryout player of five to sign with the team in 2010. Farnham was released on the final cut-down on September 4, but was signed to the Patriots practice squad on December 29.
Favorite joined New England's practice squad on January 4. The Louisiana State product spent his rookie season bouncing between the St. Louis, Kansas City, Seattle, and New Orleans practice squads.
Jenkins originally signed with Houston as a rookie free agent out of Miami in 2008. The wideout spent time in Houston and Cleveland before being signed to the New England's practice squad. Jenkins went to the Patriots training camp in 2010 and then joined the practice team again in 2010.
Turner was a rookie free agent signing for the Colts in 2010. He was signed to the Patriots practice squad three months after being waived by the Colts on August 12.
Vetrone was signed by the Patriots as a rookie free agent out of Villanova in 2010. The back spent a month on waivers before settling back in with the Patriots on October 19.
