Patriots reportedly host Starks, Streater, Harbor

The Patriots stood pat on Day 1 of free agency as big-money deals flew, but on Day 2 they were much more active. While they haven't signed anyone since the new league year began other than linebacker Ramon Humber, they reportedly had several players in for visits.

Here's a quick rundown of each player the Patriots hosted at their facilities on Thursday.

James Starks, running back: The 6-foot-1, 200-pounder is 30 years old and looking for a home after six seasons in Green Bay. He's a dual-threat back -- he caught 43 passes for 392 yards and three scores last year -- which would add some versatility to the Patriots backfield. He exhibited some ball-security issues last year, however, coughing up five fumbles.

Rod Streater, wide receiver: If the player of two years ago is still there to be had, the Patriots could find themselves a steal if they sign Streater. Back in 2013, the 6-3, 200-pound wideout caught 60 passes for 888 yards and four touchdowns. An injury derailed his 2014 season, and last year the 28-year-old languished at the bottom of the Raiders depth chart playing just 10 snaps in Week 1 and none thereafter.

Clay Harbor, tight end: Patriots coach Bill Belichick seemed to hold the former Jags tight end in high esteem last year before Jacksonville visited Gillette Stadium. He noted that Harbor played as sort of a hybrid between a fullback and a tight end. He also pointed out that the Jaguars liked to motion Harbor quite a bit in order to try to take advantage of opposing defenses. At 6-3 and 250 pounds, the six-year veteran could provide some much-needed depth behind Rob Gronkowski at that position.

Frank Kearse, defensive end: Active in four games last season, the five-year veteran spent much of the year bouncing on and off Washington's active roster.

Sherrick McManis, cornerback: A former fifth-round pick of the Texans, the 6-1, 200-pounder spent the last four seasons with the Bears. It was announced on Thursday night that McManis had re-signed with Chicago.

Other players hosted by the Patriots on Thursday included restricted free agent wideout Chris Hogan and running back Benny Cunningham
