FOXBORO -- The Patriots announced on Wednesday night that they released undrafted rookie cornerback Jimmy Jean. The University of Alabama Birmingham product signed with the team on May following the NFL Draft.

At 6-foot-3, 205 pounds, Jean provided the Patriots secondary a depth option with good size. Jean participated on all four "core" special teams units in New England's preseason opener against the Saints. He did not see the field on Saturday when the Patriots took on the Saints in New Orleans.

The Patriots stable of corners now includes Malcolm Butler, Logan Ryan, Tarell Brown, Bradley Fletcher, Robert McClain, Daxton Swanson and rookie Darryl Roberts, who suffered an injury against the Packers that has kept him off the field.
