The Patriots welcomed Casey Walker back to New England on Friday. The team announced that it re-signed the defensive lineman, filling the final open spot on its 90-man roster.

Walker helped give the Patriots defensive line some depth last season after Sealver Siliga went down for an extended period of time due to injury. Walker played in five games for the Patriots, starting one game. In that time he recorded 10 tackles and a sack.

The 6-foot-1, 340-pounder was signed by the Patriots off of the Carolina practice squad in September of last year. He was released in November and signed to the practice squad, but the Ravens signed him off of the practice squad on Dec. 16.

Walker, who is in his third professional season, was released by Baltimore on Aug. 5. He joins a group of interior defensive linemen that includes Siliga, Alan Branch, Antonio Johnson, Dominique Easley, Zach Moore, AJ Pataiali’l, Joe Vellano, Chris Jones and rookie first-round draft pick Malcom Brown.
