As expected, running back Shane Vereen -- who was placed on the injured-reserve list with a designation to return after breaking his wrist in Week 1 -- is activated by the Patriots and could play tonight.
Vereen had the best game of his career in the season opener at Buffalo, gaining 101 yards on 14 carries. However, he suffered the broken wrist in that game -- on the first play; he finished the game despite the injury -- and was placed on I.R. two days later after undergoing surgery. He was given the designation to return, which enabled the Pats had the option to activate him in November.
Adam Schefter of ESPN reported the Patriots plan to "ease" Vereen back into the lineup.
