Julian Edelman is out west on Friday, reportedly visiting with the San Francisco 49ers.
Of course, the reason that's happening is because Edelman and the Patriots couldn't come to terms on a deal before free agency began.
The Patriots did make an offer to Edelman, but it wasn't enough to prevent him from testing the market.
Edelman made 105 catches for 1056 yards and six touchdowns in a breakout season for the Patriots. He made just over $1 million last season, and is looking for his first big payday in the NFL.
Mike Giardi has some details:
ICYMI: Just bc Edelman is taking 1st "visit" doesn't mean no interest. He's had ongoing conversations w/ at least 3 teams #patriotstalk— Michael Giardi (@MikeGiardi) March 14, 2014
ICYMI Also important to remember that the Pats offer to Edelman was not what he wanted, hence the foray into free agency. #patriotstalk— Michael Giardi (@MikeGiardi) March 14, 2014
ICYMI I've been told by a source that there is not much wiggle room on Pats offer to Edelman. Again, why he's out there #patriotstalk— Michael Giardi (@MikeGiardi) March 14, 2014
