Merloni: Jones will be ‘highly motivated' if he plays

After apologizing for his “stupid mistake” over the weekend, Patriots defensive end Chandler Jones reiterated that his focus is on Saturday’s Divisional Round game against the Kansas City Chiefs.

It remains unclear if Jones will play on Saturday. When asked about his game plan, Bill Belichick answered with a sarcastic, "Could just Xerox you a copy…” when asked on Thursday.

If Jones does play, Lou Merloni expects him to be motivated.

“We don’t know what’s going to happen on Saturday. I wouldn’t be shocked at all if he doesn’t play a series, given what happened during the week. When he does play, I think you’re going to see a highly motivated Chandler Jones,” said Merloni. “I think you’re going to see a good Chandler Jones because I think he was embarrassed and I feel like he felt he let this team down.”
