Logan Mankins was introduced by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Thursday afternoon.
The former Patriots offensive lineman discussed his initial reaction when he learned of the trade.
“I was a little surprised, but I don’t know, you never expect it to happen and when it does," said Mankins. "you have to start thinking about what will I do next? I started to do what I knew to do and then got in contact with guys down here to make everything start happening.”
Mankins spent nine years with the New England Patriots after the team drafted him 32nd overall in the 2005 NFL Draft.
“Once you’ve been around this business long enough, everything is possible." explained Mankins. "It’s a business first and foremost, guys play it because they love it, but it is a business and if you don’t understand that it’s a business, then you’re lying to yourself and you have to be prepared for whatever happens in this league at any time and I think I’m always prepared. I didn’t know it was going to happen the way it did, but it’s not a shocker to me.”
