Law: Pats showed 'championship caliber' run game

These aren't your father's Patriots.

For a while, they didn't look like any version of the Patriots we'd ever seen before, destroying franchise rushing records en route to a 43-22 win over the Indianapolis Colts.

When someone hears that the Patriots posted 40+ points, the first thought is likely to be "how many TDs did Brady throw?"

None. Zero. Zip. Nada.

In fact, the closest Brady came to putting points on the scoreboard was when he held extra points for Stephen Gostkowski after Ryan Allen got hurt on the 'WTF' play of the game.

LeGarrette Blount steamrolled the Colts for 166 yards and 4 TDs.

"He's gaining more and more confidence as the season goes on," said Ty Law. "I love what LeGarrette Blount is doing right now. He's the go-to guy."

Stevan Ridley added 52 yards and 2 TDs of his own.

"I like what Stevan Ridley is doing when he comes in. He's trying to make a case for himself. [He's saying] 'give me the ball too, don't forget about me.'"

Saturday's Patriots weren't your father's Patriots, but boy were they fun to watch. And if they continue to run like they did on Saturday, they may be running for a while.

"I like the way the running game is going right now," said Law. "I think it's championship caliber."

Time will tell.
