NBC Sports' Shaun King joins Quick Slants and gives his take on the controversial play where Wes Welker took out Aqib Talib in the Patriots' AFC Championship Game loss to the Broncos.
King, the former NFL quarterback, concurs with Patriots coach Bill Belichick in that the hit was intentional, but not necessarily dirty.
"I agree with Bill Belichick. It was intentional," King said. "Not to hurt him, but to run into him. It's something Denver does."
King said what added to Belichick's frustration is that the play came when the score was 3-0 Denver and knocked Talib out of the game.
"It was part of Belichick's game plan to have Talib on Demaryius Thomas," he said. "[Without Talib] now you really exposed and they never really cold get a handle on that Denver passing attack.
