Free agent tight end Jermichael Finley has received medical clearance to play after a spinal cord contusion sustained in the 2013 season and subsequent surgery, his agent told Mike Florio on NBC Sports Network's PFT Live on Thursday.
Blake Baratz said on the show that the neurosurgeon who performed the spinal fusion on Finley has cleared him and that Finley will be visiting a team that he declined to name, citing the organization's request to not reveal it. That does sound a lot like a team that plays nearby and likes to keep things quiet.
"(Hello, Patriots)" is what Florio writes.
Finley, 27, has been cited as a possible tight end target for the Pats, including by SI.com, as they wait for Rob Gronkowski to recover. He would have to be medically cleared by the doctors of whatever team signs him.
