The Patriots have a couple guys in camp trying to solidify their roles with the team.
Jeff Howe of the Boston Herald joined Arbella Early Edition to discuss how Stevan Ridley and Ryan Mallett are handling the challenge.
"[Ridley] feels the pressure. He knows James White is gunning for his job," said Howe. "I think Stevan Ridley has really asserted himself as the that could still, or should still be, at this point in camp, the number one back on the ground."
When Jimmy Garoppolo was drafted in the second round of the 2014 NFL Draft, many people believed the end was near for Mallett. It appears the 26-year-old isn't going to go down without a fight.
"Ryan Mallett, he was up and down today," said Howe. "It's streaky, but one thing I want to see more from him in the team drills, you don't want to see him check down to the running backs as much. I kind of want to see him use that live arm a little more. But he's been solid."
