"There is a strong belief in this locker room that [Thursday] is the final time Ryan Mallett will wear a Patriots uniform." - Jeff Howe

Throughout the preseason, the backup quarterback battle between Ryan Mallett and Jimmy Garoppolo has garnered a lot of attention.

With Jimmy Garoppolo getting the start in the final preseason game on Thursday, will Ryan Mallett have a job when the Patriots make their final cuts on Saturday?

"There is a strong belief in this locker room that [Thursday] is the final time Ryan Mallett will wear a Patriots uniform," said Jeff Howe. "You know Bill Belichick likes using just two quarterbacks on the depth chart. He wants to reserve that last roster spot just for a special teamer."

If the Patriots are able to trade Mallet, what is he worth?

"It's going to be tough when the entire league believes Mallett could get cut." explained Howe. "What can you actually get for a guy like that? You see much bigger stars, their trade value plummets once the league knows they could potentially be on their way out. Mallet's trade value could be a conditional pick at this point."
