FOXBORO -- Rob Gronkowski was spotted at Patriots practice on Monday, participating in individual drills on a side field.
The Patriots tight end was the only player not in uniform, but he was on the side field (where the New England Revolution usually practice) in shorts and a T-shirt, jogging and catching passes.
Gronkowski is recovering from back surgery which has kept him on the sidelines as a spectator for training camp practices before Monday.
The Patriots have until Saturday to determine whether or not they will keep Gronkowski on the 53-man roster. They could opt to leave him on the physically unable to perform (PUP) list, which would require that he remain unavailable -- even for practices -- through the first six weeks of the season.
That he was on the field, running through some drills would seem to indicate that Gronkowski is making progress, even if he is still a long way away from being healthy enough to put on pads and take a hit.
