Tom Brady says the only stats that count are wins and losses.
“You can’t sit here and compare one year to another year or compare this player to that player." said Brady. "Winning games is the most important thing certainly for this organization and when you come here you learn that pretty quickly. Whatever matters to you as an individual it’s far distant from what the team goals are. And the team goal is one thing. To score more points than the other team.”
The Sports Tonight crew discussed the use of statistics in sports.
"I don't need the nerds to tell me Tom Brady is struggling more against pressure." said Michael Felger. "I do put stock into the wins and losses… This is why I say the last ten playoff games for Tom Brady, he's 4-6. In his last five playoff games, he's 2-3."
Marc Bertrand believes the numbers should be the be-all and end-all determination on a players career.
"Can't we look at anything with our eyes anymore?" asked Bertrand. "Does everything have to be analytics?… if you want to talk actual statistics that are based on things that happened in the game like yards or touchdowns or actual things that can be calculated instead of grades, then we can have that discussion."
