The 2014 Parade of Quarterback Prospects continued in Foxboro this week with Jimmy Garoppolo from Eastern Illinois swinging by.

Also in this week was Wisconsin safety Dez Southward. Garoppolo’s visit was reported first by Mike Reiss at ESPNBoston.com. National Football Post noted Southward’s visit.

The 6-2, 226-pound Garoppolo is looked at as a second- or third-day pick but he’s caught some momentum as a possible first-rounder with former Colts president and current ESPN analyst Bill Polian. Garoppolo’s got great intangibles and a lightning-fast release but he hasn’t worked against high-level competition.

Southward, meanwhile, is a 6-1, 212-pound safety who ripped it up at his Wisconsin pro day with a 4.35 40 and a 42-inch vertical.

He was red-flagged at the Combine and not allowed to work out because of a perceived vertebra fracture that has since been disputed. The Patriots almost certainly had Southward in to do further exams.
