Tom E. Curran checks in with three keys for the Patriots in their game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
The Bucs are 0-2 and Curran says that makes them 'desperate.'
A desperate Bucs squad is a dangerous Bucs squad. Tampa Bay's defense is aggressive, anchored in the secondary by Darrelle Revis, and in the trenches by a shutdown defensive front. The Patriots have struggled on offense in their first two games, so things don't figure to look any prettier on Sunday.
Second, the Patriots need to shut down, or at least contain Vincent Jackson.
Jackson is one of two keys to Tampa Bay's offense, which brings us to the third key.
Keep an eye on Doug Martin.
Martin and Jackson complement each other perfectly. If a defense cheats in order to cover Jackson, it opens up huge running lanes for Martin. If a defense fills the box to shut down Martin, Jackson shreds the opposing secondary.
The Patriots will have their hands full managing both at the same time.
- Doug Martin
If Patriots have to cheat to cover Vincent Jackson, Doug Martin will run wild.
